DAMMS Club Figure -2006

The Club figure selected for 2006 is the Indian Chief bust by Michael Roberts.  Jim O'Neal gave a great talk at the April meeting that had lots of good info for painting this bust.  Look in section III of the e-Kukris for the slides from his talk.  Get those paint brushes going!  I hope to see a large turnout at the February 2007 Meeting of superbly painted busts.

The DAMMS contingent at the 2005 MMSI Show did very well.  Three members exhibited figures and all three received Certificates of Merit.  Paul Hooper received his CoM for his U.S. Navy BAR gunner.  PJ Hooper received his for one of his 28mm fantasy figures.  Matt Materne got a CoM for his bust conversion.  Congratulations to everyone!

DAMMS members have been having a great deal of success at shows.  Jeff Fisher, Matt Materne, Paul Hooper, and PJ Hooper all won awards at the 2004 Chicago Show.  Paul Hooper and PJ Hooper went to the 2005 Atlanta Show and both received Certificates of Merit in the Painter's Division.  Matt Materne received a Bronze Medal for his Borg Bust and Paul Hooper received a Certificate of Merit for his Spock at the World Expo 2005 in Boston.  Keep up the great work folks!

DAMMS Goes to MMSI
October found a large contingent of DAMMS and former DAMMS members converging in Chicago for the 2003 MMSI Show.  Everyone that showed a figure received an award, a pretty good job by DAMMS folks!

Best of Show went to a spectacular diorama by Doug Lee of Toronto.  It was entitled "End of an Era" and depicts Polish Lancers charging German tanks in 1939.  It also won Best of Show at Euromilitaire this year, so that gives you some idea of just how fabulous this piece was.  The pictures below don't begin to show all of the wonderful detail, but will show you more of what you missed by not going to Chicago.  See you there next year!
